Brian French Brings Bold Color Realism to Ink & Dagger — And He’s Coming Back!
A Guest Spot to Remember
From May 26 through June 2, 2026, Ink & Dagger had the pleasure of welcoming color realism tattoo artist Brian French for his first guest spot at the studio. During his week with us, Brian stayed busy creating everything from spontaneous walk-in tattoos to an impressive large-scale color realism piece that showcased the vibrant, highly detailed style he's become known for.
The week was filled with incredible artwork, great conversations, and plenty of new faces, making it an easy decision to invite him back.
Finding the right Fit
For Brian, choosing Ink & Dagger wasn't by accident.
“I’ve always looked up to Russ Abbott through my career. He’s built an incredible reputation in the tattoo industry, both as an artist and a shop owner. Ink & Dagger has become a staple in the industry, known for producing great work and maintaining a strong artistic culture. Having the opportunity to work alongside artists I respect in a shop with that kind of reputation was something I was excited about from the start.”
That welcoming atmosphere quickly turned into an unforgettable week for both Brian and our team.
A Style that Stands Out
While Brian tackled a variety of projects during his stay, his passion lies in creating bold, vibrant color realism tattoos packed with depth and detail.
“My work is primarily focused on realism, both black and grey and color. I enjoy creating large-scale custom pieces, portraits, nature-inspired subjects, and detailed designs that tell a story. While realism is my foundation, I enjoy working with clients to create unique tattoos that fit their vision.”
His work demonstrates not only technical precision but an ability to bring subjects to life in a way that feels striking, immersive, and uniquely personal.
Turning Ideas Into Something Personal
When asked what inspires his work, Brian emphasized that every tattoo begins with the client's vision.
“I’m inspired by the challenge of constantly improving my craft. I draw inspiration from nature, photography, fine art, and the work of other talented tattoo artists who continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in tattooing. More than anything, I’m inspired by the opportunity to create meaningful pieces that my clients will carry with them for the rest of their lives.”
When asked what inspires his work, Brian emphasized that every tattoo begins with the client's vision. That collaborative mindset made him an instant favorite among clients throughout the week.
Already Looking Ahead to September
After such a successful visit, we're excited to announce that Brian will be returning to Ink & Dagger this September—and appointments are already filling up.
Reflecting on his first guest spot, Brian shared:
“My first experience at Ink & Dagger was fantastic. The team was welcoming, the clients were great, and the atmosphere made it easy to focus on creating my best work. It’s the kind of shop that reminds you why you fell in love with tattooing in the first place. I’m excited to reconnect with everyone, meet new clients, and continue building relationships within the community.”
