Brian Bennett: For the Love of Tattooing

Brian Bennett is the kind of tattooer who makes you feel welcome the second you walk through his station. Whether you’re getting your very first tattoo or committing to a large-scale, multi-session piece, Brian brings a thoughtful energy to every project. At Ink & Dagger, he’s known for bold color, meaningful linework, and his genuine love for people and tattoo culture as a whole.

To Brian, tattoos are for everyone. There’s no gatekeeping here—just good art, honest work, and a shared experience that sticks with you long after the tattoo heals.

Brian’s Roots

Originally from Torrington, Connecticut, Brian moved to Roswell, Georgia in 1988. Like a lot of artists who came up in the late ’90s, his early inspiration came from punk rock and alternative subcultures.

He began piercing professionally in 1999 and started tattooing in 2012, going full-time in 2016.

Now, with a decade tattooing under his belt, Brian’s journey reflects years of dedication. He always wanted to learn the craft the right way—slowly, intentionally, and with respect for the fundamentals.

Style Built on Strong Foundations

From the beginning, Brian’s focus has been on clean, crisp linework, smooth blends, and packing solid, saturated color. He believes style naturally reveals itself when an artist commits to mastering the basics. That approach has shaped a body of work that spans neo-traditional, American traditional, traditional Japanese, anime, and cartoon-inspired tattoos.

After years at Ink & Dagger, Brian’s niche has become more refined, with a growing focus on large-scale traditional Japanese and comic book-style projects. His obsession with contrast is essential—bold lines anchored by subtle details, thoughtful use of negative space, and color choices that work together to make the subject pop.

Brian often thinks about his designs in terms of storytelling: who’s the main character, who’s supporting, and how light, shadow can bring the whole piece together.

The Tattoo Experience

Brian’s ideal client is someone who wants to remember the experience—not just the tattoo.

He loves working with people who are open to spending full days in the shop, building something meaningful over time. He values trust, collaboration, and connection. Whether you’re quiet or outgoing, his goal is the same: to make a positive impact and create something you’ll carry proudly for life.

At his core, Brian is grateful. Grateful for the trust clients place in him and for the chance to provide a service that people cannot do for themselves.

Life Beyond the Studio

Outside Ink & Dagger, Brian is a dedicated father and a lifelong learner. He works on cars and motorbikes, welds, does woodworking, and loves building things that others can enjoy. He also loves off-road motorcycle racing with his son, who shares the same passion for hands-on skills and time well spent.

Community matters deeply to Brian. He misses the days when tattoo shops felt like barber shops—places where people gathered, talked, and connected.

If he invites you back to check on your healed work or encourages you to bring a friend or partner by the shop, it’s not random. He’s building community the way tattooing always has: through shared space, stories, and mutual respect.
